Hampton Roads Network For Nonviolence
Organization Structure
The Hampton Roads Network For Nonviolence is comprised of individuals
representing many varied organizations, as well as individuals independent of
representative responsibilities or ties. The question of our relationship to
other organizational bodies has come up at meetings. In discussion we have
agreed to see the members of HRNN, its represented organizations and its
affiliates as somewhat separate but still connected concentric circles
working and building and strengthening in ever intertwining ways, while
remaining free from an overall controlling hierarchical structure.
The Hampton Roads Network For Nonviolence is a relatively young group and has
not yet found it necessary to incorporate, form by-laws, appoint a treasurer,
establish a bank account, etc.
We currently work under the following guidelines adopted in September 2003:
- HRNN membership is open to all interested individuals and organization
representatives who take to heart the HRNN Vision, Mission and
Organizational Goals.
- Except for two facilitators, Convener and Recorder, the HRNN membership
structure will remain flat.
- HRNN decision making will be accomplished following the Unity/Consensus
Model and will take place in our regular monthly scheduled meetings and in
specially scheduled meetings with advance notice/agenda given.
- The two HRNN facilitators, Convener and Recorder, will be chosen annually
and serve one year terms.
- All persons on the HRNN mailing/contact lists are considered HRNN members.
HRNN members will be contacted annually to confirm their dedication and
continued interest toward the HRNN Vision, Mission and Organizational Goals
and the work that we are about.
- HRNN from time to time may form working groups to carry forth the work we
are called to. When this happens the working groups will be given clear
directions and clear reporting and decision making guidelines.
